How to Skip the Prep Year
Your guide to clearing the English and Math prep requirements.
Skipping the prep year means clearing both the English and Math prep requirements, by which you would directly be promoted to freshman year standing (not an oria anymore XD). You may fully skip prep, shorten it, or only skip part of it depending on your English and Math results. I highly recommend you to skip the prep year, if you are fluent in english.

Prep-English Promotion:
- TOEFL iBT: 70 or above
- IELTS: 6.0 or above
- Minimum 5.5 in each IELTS skill
Prep-Math Promotion:
English: How to skip Prep-English
You can skip Prep-English by submitting a valid TOEFL iBT or IELTS certificate, or by taking the university English placement path during the first week.
- TOEFL iBT: 70 or above
- IELTS: 6.0 or above, with at least 5.5 in each skill
- The certificate must be within 1 year prior to the start of the first semester.
- If you do not submit a certificate, you can take the university TOEFL iTP / English placement test for free during the first week.
- Based on the result, you either skip English or get placed into an English level.
Math: How to skip Prep-Math
To skip Prep-Math, you need to clear the Math placement path. Students who score 60% or above in the Math placement test become eligible for the optional Math002 Promotion Exam. Passing the Math002 Promotion Exam with 60% or above lets you skip the whole Prep-Math Program.
- Less than 50% in the Math Placement Test → Math001
- 50% to less than 60% → Math012
- 60% or above → eligible for optional Math002 Promotion Exam
- 60% or above in Math002 Promotion Exam → skip Prep-Math
- Less than 60% in Math002 Promotion Exam → Math012
What if you only skip part of prep?
- If you only skip Math001, you take Math012 in prep year.
- If you skip Math001 and Prep-English, you may only need one semester of prep year (half-skip).
- If you skip all Prep-English requirements or get placed in ENGL05, you automatically start Math012 even if you did not pass the Math001 placement test.
- To fully skip the prep year, you need to clear both the English and Math requirements.
